WRiTERS' NiGHT

(CDT, UTC-05) (CDT, UTC-05)

Tambourine Lounge, 59 N. 2nd Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI

Since 2007, the Holiday Music Motel has hosted WRiTERS' NiGHT, our every-Thurday "originals only" open mic for songwriters, poets, and storytellers. From the motel lobby, the weekly showcase migrated to our makeshift studio/concert space upstairs. Then, in 2014, we acquired the big building next door (aka "The Tambourine") and WRiTERS' NiGHT found its permanent home in our lush-ish listening room, The Tambourine Lounge.

Hosted by pat mAcdonald, sets are 2-songs long (or equivalent for spoken word); beverages are "bring your own" (water, paper cups, and dark chocolate provided), and serious appreciaters are always appreciated. :)

A rock & roll / Americana band whose sun-kissed songwriting, versatile guitar work, and lush vocal harmonies evoke the California coastline as much as the Bible Belt countryside, the HawtThorns are rooted in the collaborative chemistry of duo KP and Johnny Hawthorn. Both have had celebrated solo careers and were members of LA based touring bands. (Toad the Wet Sprocket, Everclear, CALICO the band). That chemistry has rendered two full length records since 2019 with a 3rd effort ("Zero Gravity”) ready for take off FEB 2024.

DAVID COX and DENNY RAUEN

Tambourine Lounge, 59 N. 2nd Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI

David plays guitar brilliantly in a wide range of fingerpicking styles, always in service of his wise and whimsical songs. His sense of irony and eye for detail can be breathraking and heartbreaking. A friend of Steel Bridge and the Tambourine, he's co-written more than a few Steel Bridge anthems, notably "Rivets" and the comical nod to cosmetic dentistry, 'Steel Bridge." Our friend, the multitalented bag-piper, luthier, and guitarist, Denny Rauen will also perform.

Eric returns to the Tambourine Lounge (well, he never really left - he's got a studio in the back) and he's been working up some songs with the one and only Ruby James! <3 Doors at 7:30 - Show at 8:00

A REVIEW OF HIS ALBUM: 9/10 "‘Revival’ is emotionally challenging and beautiful. Savour this album slowly, first listening to the careful mixture of music and mood, then allowing yourself to be moved by the memories it revives while marvelling at the magic of the man who put it all together.” -Americana UK

THE NUT

Tambourine Lounge, 59 N. 2nd Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI

THE NUT is a folk artist based in Boston. As a songwriter, she explores "the concept of nature, youth, self-perception, home, and growing out of the place you’ve grown up in." She's a sort of anomaly (you'll see) but no stranger to Door County where she grew up. Her songs, delivery, personality, and commitment to her craft have made fans of all of us at Writers' Night, and we're happy to host a whole show of her work and strongly suggest that you share in the discovery of a great new artist by attending this concert. Her friend and collaborator Sebastian Stinnett will open. Doors are at 7:00, show is at 8:00. This is a benefit concert - of your $20 ticket price, the performers are generously (voluntarily) donating 30% to the Steel Bridge Creative Foundation. <3
